What I did? Simply, I worked for a friend. And trying to do art. Because the topic is his art. So the topic is an expression of a friend. Not a simple job.
So I had a huge amount of pictures and nothing else. First I decided that the final product had to be “elegant”, as Joel talked to me about elegance. So I started with emotions, I selected pictures that provide me strong emotions, good emotions, good feelings, like looking a beautiful landscape alone or with friends, thinking about my kids, or generically about children, thinking to harmony, nature, wind, freedom.
It was just a good start, but I needed to do it better, so I investigated good feelings, I needed the most impressive pictures: ok, I do believe kids have a better not conditioned way to catch sensations. So I mixed Joel pictures and others of different topics in a slideshow and look at reactions of an asylum classroom.
Then I use some mathematic, some not real domain.....I love it.
Beauty and elegance is also math, symmetric formulas…. Curves…. So I chosen shapes of clay art where the shape of the color gradient is more beautiful from the math point of view.
Then I needed music. After a while I decided for a music creating for me the same emotions of the pictures. Exactly the same. And the marvelous thing is that, easily, I found the way to make the music matching perfectly with the pictures, really, never found to put a soundtrack so easy. Usually you have to set all the timing of the images....transactions… and it’s a hard job…. It took 20 min this time, worldwide record.
So I was sure about the music. Now, what is the best way to show picture after picture….. I started to think about transactions…. I needed something that make the pictures not disappear and appear, not go out but I wanted that the video show up a story. A huge continuous pictures collage moving and changing as an Origami, as the stream of emotions.
Nothing like this already exist. So, starting from something similar on Mac, I start, after 3 years, to write graphical code…. And write the effect I love, with some details I hope you will appreciate, some are like turning a page, but I wanted it realistic, easy, natural, sometimes it is like an Origami, but fluid.
